Who may use the site

Anyone can browse the site. To submit a form, apply to organize or sponsor, upload clips, or list a club, you need to be 18 or older.

  • If you are 13 to 17, you may use the APL Assistant Chat and the newsletter form only if a parent or guardian has said it's OK. Your membership and league play are handled on Scoreholio under its terms and the League Rules.
  • The site is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, please don't submit forms, chat or upload anything.

We don't check ages. If we learn that a child under 13 has given us personal information through the site, we will delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and want something a minor submitted removed, email team@iplayapl.com.

If you use the site for a club, venue, school or business, you're confirming you're allowed to agree to these Terms for it.

Memberships and the store happen elsewhere

Two things you'll want to do don't happen on this site:

  • Your membership. You create your player account, buy or renew your membership, register for events and pay for them on Scoreholio, the league's membership and tournament platform, under Scoreholio's own terms and policies.
  • The store. Our store page shows products offered for sale. When you check out, you're taken to Shopify, in a new window, under Shopify's checkout terms. See "The store" below.

These Terms cover this site only. They don't change your agreements with Scoreholio or Shopify, and they don't replace the League Rules.

The store

The store page shows products and prices, and a "Pre-order" label where an item ships later. Checkout and payment happen on Shopify, under Shopify's checkout terms. Checkout shows you the seller, the price, taxes, and shipping timing, including the expected ship date for a pre-order.

Any refund, shipping or pre-order terms APL publishes for the store apply to your order. Questions about an order, a refund or a pre-order go to team@iplayapl.com. Nothing in these Terms reduces the warranties and remedies on products that the checkout terms and the law give you.

Rankings, results and your name on the site

Your name is public. Rankings, results, tiers and club affiliations are league records. As the league's governing body, APL publishes them on this site using the display name and membership details you gave Scoreholio when you joined the league; Scoreholio also publishes them under its own terms. To fix a mistake in your record, or to ask us to limit how a player's name appears (for example, a player under 18), email team@iplayapl.com.

The official documents win. The rules for rankings, standings, points, tiers, sanctioning and eligibility live in three documents on our Official Rules and Membership pages:

  • the APL Rules & Regulations
  • the 2026-27 League Rules
  • the Membership Tiers chart

If a summary, chart or number elsewhere on the site disagrees with them, those documents are right. After this section, we call them "the League Rules".

Site data can lag. Scoreholio is the league's official record for scores and results. We pull that data onto the site on a schedule, so it can be behind or wrong. APL can correct, recalculate or remove any ranking, result, tier, club or event listing at any time. A number on this site is not a ruling, a promise of a prize, or proof that you're eligible.

Content you submit

You can send us content through the site: league-night video clips and photos, club listings (logo, venue details, tagline and social links), applications, messages and chat ("Submissions").

You own what you submit. In return, you give APL permission to use it, free, for as long as we like, anywhere in the world, and to pass that permission on to PD Games LLC and to our sponsors, broadcasters and media partners for league content. That means we can copy it, trim and edit it, add it to league content, and post it on the site, in league emails, on social media, and in broadcasts and streams. We may credit you, but we don't have to, and you don't get to approve each use first.

In legal terms: you grant APL a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual (subject to the removal right below) license to use, copy, edit, adapt, publish and distribute your Submissions in any medium for league content, promotion and marketing, with the right to sublicense to PD Games LLC and to our sponsors, broadcasters and media partners for league content.

Club listings are public. We publish the club name, logo, venue name and street address, league night, tagline, social links and the organizer's name on the club directory and map. We don't publish your email or phone.

You promise that:

  • you made the Submission or have the rights needed to give us this permission, including for any music or logo in it;
  • you have asked everyone recognizable in a clip or photo for permission to appear and for APL to use it, and, for anyone under 18, you have that person's parent or guardian's permission, if you're not sure, don't upload the clip;
  • for a club listing, you're allowed to list the club and venue, to have the venue address and your name published, and to let us show the club's logo;
  • the Submission is accurate and lawful and doesn't infringe anyone's rights.

Want a clip taken down or a listing changed? Email team@iplayapl.com. If you, or a person shown in a clip, ask us to stop using it, we will stop new uses and make reasonable efforts to remove it from the channels we control; copies already published, broadcast or shared by others may remain. If you are under 18 and want something you submitted removed, email us and we will remove it from where we control it. APL can also decline, edit or remove any Submission, and doesn't have to use it.

Emails and notices from the league

When you submit a form, buy from the store or hold a membership, the league emails you. A reply to your request, league updates, and news about your membership. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom; you can also reply to any email or write to team@iplayapl.com and we'll stop marketing email. We'll still send the emails needed to answer a request you made, to run your membership, or to tell you about an order.

We may also use an email address you gave us to send notices about the site, including changes to these Terms. Unsubscribing from marketing email doesn't stop those service notices. The Privacy Policy explains what we track in email (opens and clicks).

The APL Assistant Chat (our chat bot)

The chat window on the site is the APL Assistant Chat, an automated assistant. It answers questions about the game, the League Rules, events and membership. When you ask for a person, a league near you, or to start one, it takes your name, phone, city and state so someone can follow up. A person may also join the conversation.

The APL Assistant Chat is for information only. Its answers are not official rulings, don't bind APL, and can be incomplete or wrong. The official on site makes rulings on a match. A person at the league, not the bot, decides eligibility, points, tiers, prizes, sanctioning and fees, under the League Rules. If you need an official answer, contact us.

If you give the APL Assistant Chat your name or contact details, a person at the league or an organizer may follow up with you; the APL Assistant Chat will tell you when a person has taken over. We keep chat conversations. League staff and the company that runs the site for us can read them (see the Privacy Policy). Don't type passwords or card numbers into the chat.

Organizer, sponsor and international applications

You can apply through the site to start or certify a league, list a certified club (by invitation after approval), sponsor the league, or, from outside the United States, become an international organizer or distribution partner. Submitting an application is not acceptance. APL may accept or decline any application at its sole discretion. We may be unable to accept applications from some countries or regions because of United States export, sanctions or other laws.

Applying doesn't give you anything on its own. Only a written agreement signed by APL creates an organizer, club, sponsorship, distribution or international relationship. Until then you have no territory, no exclusivity, and no franchise, agency, partnership, employment or license, and no right to use the APL or Popdarts names or logos, no matter what an application, an acknowledgment email, the APL Assistant Chat or a conversation with league staff may seem to say. Organizers are independent of APL. They are responsible for their own venues, events, fees, permits, insurance and local laws.

What you can't do on the site

You agree not to:

  • scrape, harvest, mirror or bulk-download the rankings, club, event or other data published on the site;
  • use bots or automated tools on the site or its data feeds, beyond normal browsing and search-engine indexing;
  • submit forms, chat or uploads with false information, on someone else's behalf without permission, or in bulk, or send spam through them;
  • impersonate APL, an organizer, an official, another player or PD Games;
  • upload malware, interfere with the site, its forms, its data feeds or the services it connects to, or get around security or rate limits;
  • use the site, its data or your Submissions to harass, threaten or defame anyone, or otherwise break the law.

Intellectual property

The site and its content, including the rulebook, league documents, and the rankings, club and event data we publish, belong to APL or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. The American Popdarts League name, the APL logo and league event and program names are trademarks of APL or its licensors. Popdarts® is a registered trademark of PD Games LLC, used by APL under license. Other companies' names and logos on the site belong to their owners and don't imply endorsement.

You may view, print and share pages for personal, non-commercial purposes, link to rankings and events, and quote the League Rules to run a certified league. You may not use APL's or Popdarts' names, logos or documents in a way that suggests sponsorship, sanctioning or affiliation without our written permission.

Other companies' sites and services

The site links to, and shows content from, services we don't control, including Scoreholio, Shopify checkout, YouTube, the league's Facebook groups and pages, popdartsgame.com, the forms and chat widget hosted by our CRM provider, the Google Drive upload used for clip submissions, and the map tiles and libraries that draw the club map. Some of them load content or set cookies from their own servers when you view a page; the Privacy Policy lists them. Their terms govern your use of them. APL isn't responsible for their content, availability or practices, and a link isn't an endorsement.

Disclaimers

The site is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise that the site, its data feeds or the APL Assistant Chat will be accurate, uninterrupted, secure or error-free, and rankings, schedules, prices and availability can change without notice. In legal terms, to the fullest extent the law allows, APL disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.

Playing Popdarts is a physical activity. These Terms are about the website only. They don't address the risks of playing, watching or hosting league nights or events. Any release or waiver for play is separate from these Terms and, if one applies, will be presented to you by APL, an organizer, a venue or the registration platform.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, APL, and its owners, officers, staff, contractors, licensors and affiliates. Are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages. That includes lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, and any loss tied to rankings or points shown on the site. This applies to anything arising from the site, its content, its data feeds, the APL Assistant Chat or your Submissions, under any legal theory, even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability for all claims arising from or related to the site will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amounts you paid for APL membership or for products you ordered from the store page in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some places don't allow some of these limits; there, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, and nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited under the law that applies to you. Nothing here reduces the warranties and remedies on store products that the checkout terms and the law give you.

Your responsibility for your Submissions and misuse

If someone brings a claim against APL because of a Submission you made, say, a clip that infringes a copyright or shows a person who didn't agree to appear, or because you used the site in a way that breaks the "What you can't do on the site" section, you agree to defend APL and to pay the reasonable costs, damages and attorneys' fees APL incurs, to the extent your Submission or your breach caused the claim. We'll tell you promptly about the claim, and we may join in with our own lawyer. You can't settle a claim on APL's behalf without our OK.

Your legal rights where you live

If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and use the site as a consumer, nothing in these Terms, including the disclaimers, the limits on liability, the one-year time limit, and the choice of South Carolina law and courts. Takes away protections you have under the mandatory laws of your country, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. The same goes for anyone else whose local consumer law can't be overridden by contract.

Suspension and termination

APL can suspend or end your access to the site or any feature, block your traffic, decline your Submissions, or remove content, at any time and without notice, if we believe you've broken these Terms, the League Rules or the law, or if we need to protect the site, the league or other people.

Some parts of these Terms keep applying afterward: our permission to use Submissions you already made (subject to the removal right in "Content you submit"), and the sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limits on liability, your responsibility for Submissions, your legal rights where you live, and disputes.

If we have a dispute

These Terms and any dispute about the site are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules (so South Carolina law applies even if you live somewhere else), and by applicable United States federal law.

Talk to us first. If you have a dispute with APL about the site, email team@iplayapl.com with your name, contact details, the problem and what you'd like us to do. Both sides agree to try in good faith to resolve any dispute informally for at least 30 days before starting legal action.

If that fails, any lawsuit about the site must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina, and you and APL consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either side can instead take a claim that fits small-claims limits to small-claims court where you live or where APL is located. Where the law allows, you and APL agree that any claim about the site must be started within one year after it arose; this doesn't apply where a longer period is required by law. See "Your legal rights where you live" if you use the site as a consumer outside the United States.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the site and the league change; the effective date at the top shows the current version. For material changes we'll post a notice on the site and, where we have your email, may email you. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept it. A change doesn't apply to a dispute that started before it took effect.

The fine print

These Terms, and any additional terms we present when you use a specific feature (such as the international application acknowledgment), govern your use of the site; if they conflict, the feature-specific terms control for that feature. If a court finds one part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. You can't hand these Terms off to someone else; APL can, if the league changes hands.
