How to start

Don’t see a league near you? Do this

You’re getting in on the ground floor of the Most Satisfying Sport in the World. Help us grow this into the biggest sport of our generation.

Check the map first

Open the club map and look for a sanctioned league near you. If there is one, show up as a guest, still the fastest way in. Open the map.

Tell the league

Use the form below: pick I’ll run it to apply as an organizer, or I just want to play to be matched to the nearest night. This is the official way to start a league, an APL organizer follows up within 48 business hours. Go to the form. While you wait, play Virtual League Night: every Tuesday, hosted by Luke Stutzman, from anywhere, even with no league near you. Two steps: 1. create your free Bronze membership (upgrade any time) → 2. join Virtual League Night. The VLN group has the schedules and chat.

Certify with the APL

Create your Organizer profile, set up your club on Scoreholio, then apply through the organizer form above. That sends your organizer names and contact details straight to the APL organizer team for approval, League Rule L-1, in full below.

Run the night, every quarter

Four round-robin games per player per week, a double-elimination Club Championship at the end of every quarter, one bracket submitted, and your results feed the national board.

Recommended, not required: join the official APL Facebook group and make a group for your league. It is where nights get posted and players find each other. Virtual League Night has its own group for schedules and chat. The official route is the form on this page.
Outside the United States? APL is opening internationally, different process, different packages, its own application. See International.

Certify with the APL

League Rule L-1: three steps to certification, and what a certified club runs every quarter. The full 2026-27 League Rules live on the rules page.
  1. Create an Organizer profile

Your organizer identity with the APL. The person the league is certified under.

  2. Establish a league club on Scoreholio

The club is where your round robins, standings and quarterly championship brackets live.

  3. Apply through the organizer form

Send your organizer names and contact information through the organizer form for approval. It reaches the APL organizer team directly.

Every quarter, a certified club:

  • Offer a minimum of four Round Robin games per player each week, you may exceed four.
  • Offer at least four weeks of Round Robin play per quarter, a 16-game opportunity per player within your club.
  • Hold a mandatory double-elimination Club Championship at the end of every quarter, seeded from the round-robin win/loss record.
  • Submit one championship bracket per quarter, plus all scheduled league weeks, to the APL for approval. That is what feeds the APL Leaderboard.
  • Keep a leaderboard of scheduled competition (a spreadsheet is advised) and run everything under the current-season APL rules.

When you create an event in Scoreholio, select the APL Official 2026/27 Full Season (Bracket only): that is what puts your night on the APL calendar and the club map, and it is how your players’ results count toward the national rankings.

How to Get Started on ScoreholioThe league’s own step-by-step organizer guide: what you need to run a night, setting up your club page and club settings, the exact weekly-league settings (Round Robin · Singles · rank by record then points · four rounds or more), seasons, tickets and pre-registration, the event description, checking players in, and submitting your round robins.
A free Bronze membership is the player minimum for round robins · tournament play needs Silver or above (L-2)
